Careers
The Careers Portfolio facilitates the interaction between law students and future employers. It delivers opportunities for students to learn about the legal industry and the organisations within it, meet and network with industry professionals, and gain an understanding of available career pathways through clerkship programs, placements and undergraduate roles. The Careers team also provides guidance to students on how to map out their legal careers and present themselves to employers.
Fast track your career by joining the Careers Portfolio at one of their many seminars or firm presentations, at the annual Careers Fair, or by picking up a copy of the Careers and Clerkships Guide.
For further information about careers events and initiatives, email the team via careers@aulss.org.
2025 Law Careers Fair
In April 2025 the AULSS hosted a dedicated law careers fair for all South Australian law students in the newly renovated Union House at the University of Adelaide.
This fair is an annual event designed to connect Australian law firms and other organisations within the legal industry with law students from Adelaide Law School, the University of South Australia and Flinders University.
Scheduled just before the annual uniform clerkship scheme, this is an ideal opportunity for both students and organisations to speak directly about organisations, their clerkship programs and employment opportunities.

Careers and Clerkships Guide
Each year the AULSS Careers Portfolio produces a Careers and Clerkships Guide.
This guide provides students at all stages of their degree with detailed information about legal practice areas, career pathways and how to plan their future careers.
It also serves as a valuable resource for students to learn about potential employers, the employment opportunities available to them and to understand the clerkship application process.
In 2023 the AULSS Careers and Clerkships Guide was nationally recognised as the Best Careers Initiative and in 2022 as the Best Careers Guide at the Australian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) awards.
